Release Notes V4.2
Release Date 08 Dec 2016
Release Summary
There are a number of significant enhancements in TransLution 4.20. We have added four very important new step types in addition to some other enhancements to make system implementation easier.
Close Job Step
This is a very simple step that closes a job.
Create File Step
This step will log data to a file - either XML or CSV. Multiple rows of data can be logged to a single file or a new file can be created per row.
Print Step
This step can be used to print an SSRS report. The biggest benefit of this is that a report can be printed directly from any device - including a scanner.
Decision Step
We have built a step type that will move to any predefined step based on the result of a decision as True or False. There are a number of standard decisions defined and custom decisions can be built as well. This is similar to the GOTO logic but much easier to implement. GOTO is still supported.
Passing Parameters to a Custom Validation
A key benefit of TransLution is the ability to use Stored Procedures to do custom validation, data logging and process sequencing. What is difficult though is that using previously scanned data within a validation required finding that data manually in the database. We can now pass any step value directly to a stored procedure significantly simplifying the implementation of custom validations for complex requirements.
EazyScan AutoUpgrade
On running EazyScan on the scanner, it will compare the software version with that on the server and if the server has a later version, the software on the scanner will automatically be upgraded.
Other Enhancements and Bug Fixes
We have made various changes to improves the implementation and end user experience
- We have added the ability to override Quality Manager results on a quality manager form
- We have extended the Post step so that in addition to posting data from steps, it can also post data from a database table
- Our standard validations have been extended, not only to include more validations but also to allow users to validate against fixed values
- Configurable User added for 'Other' business objects (Excluding WIP, INV, POR and SOR)
- Filter options on the General Grid and TL Selector have been enhanced to support options such as Equal, Not Equal, Begins with, Ends with, Contains
- Enhancements to User Maintenance - warning if user is not assigned to a user group or organisation, automatically assign a language to a user, more useful error message when trying to create a new user with the same name as an existing user
- Improving the mechanism for saving on the custom layer forms
- Save detailed comments against steps and function areas. This will allow for system documentation to be stored in the TransLution database
- Extend the EazyTouch keypad by adding Backspace, Underscore, Hyphen and Space to the keypad
- Prevent the creation of function areas with the same name as existing functions
- Fixed bug that shows inactive function areas on the permission forms
