The TransLution General Posting Service is an extremely flexible service that supports various key features in TransLution. This is the service that is used to managed  the General Posting feature.

 

General Posting is an alternative way of doing posts to Syspro. It is still widely used on existing site but the goal is on new sites to use Live posting as much as possible and Buffered posting when that is not possible. General Posting should be a last resort.

 

General Posting works by having functions log data to custom tables and then using a service to post the data from these tables. The benefit of General Posting is that it is robust and dies not cause problems when there are issues with posting to Syspro due to network or other problems but the disadvantage is that the posts are totally disconnected from the user. They do not see any errors when anything goes wrong and managing failures after the even can become a mammoth task.
