Release Notes TransLution Version 710 – Release Date - February 2023

 

Release Summary

Version 7.1 was a short release cycle but still has some significant enhancements. The two main changes relate to the release of a new step called External Processing and also the release of Android Auto-update functionality. We made some other enhancements around data display on Android and around printing.


External Processing

This new feature opens up virtually endless integration opportunities with TransLution. By adding this we allow TransLution to call an external DLL which can be a wrapper around any third party API. we can map TransLution step values directly to the DLL parameters and receive a response directly in TransLution as if it were any scanned value.


Android Auto-Update

As the name suggests, we now support auto-update on both Android and EazyTouch. Windows scanners are not supported in V7. When starting TransLution on an Android scanner, we compare the TransLution version with the WCF server version and if they are not the same we attempt to download the latest Android version from the Translution database. As long as the latest apk is found, TransLution will be auto-updated. V7.1 still needs a manual install but all versions after V7.1 will be auto-updated.


Print Enhancements

When printing to a PDF file, we now log the name of the PDF file that was created to the Print Master table. We have also extended the filename which includes a time stamp to include seconds since we found that on occasion two files were printed in the same minute. We have also added a new overlay called Print Manager as shown below. This allows an end-user to view failed prints and cancel or retry the print.



Suggestion Enhancements

We have extended the Suggestion Prompt logic to allow for direct mapping of values for default values meaning that there are no longer stored procedures required in order to display a dynamic default value.


Another improvement is for the display of suggestions in Android. We allow for some basic text formatting including bold, italic, and underline as well as a combination of all three. The end result is as below. Please note this is for Android only and on EazyTouch the suggestion displays in plain text.


Other Enhancements and Bug Fixes

  • It is now possible to display a progress grid on Subroutines called from a grid - this applies to Android and EazyTouch
  • Logon Audit Trail added to the Common Database to track the logon history of individual devices and users
  • Fixed an issue whereby if a workflow and a function area had the same name we were not displaying the correct item
  • Made significant improvements to the processing speed when doing database upgrades
  • Improved the Purge Utility to handle international date formats
  • Made significant improvements to import/exports to handle a range of exceptions
