Managing Function Area Groups
Function area groups can be used but are currently a placeholder for future releases. In version 5.7 the groups will only allow for a way to sort functions on a report.
While function areas are added to groups independently of the set and version process, the same form is used. Function area Groups however are designed purely as a way to group functions in a business process together for reporting purposes. In a future release, the Configurator forms will also allow functions in a group to be shown as a group on the form in order to allow users to manage these functions together. The groups are not specifically related to workflows although functions in a group may belong to the same workflow.
If we look at a Cycle Count Process for example all the functions including the supervisor functions would belong to the same group but when it comes to granting scanner permissions via workflows or directly on the device, not all the functions in a group would always be shown together.
