V4.3-4/5
Upgrades from V4.3 or V4.5 are considered a major upgrade. There are three important step changes to consider:
- V5.0 introduced the concept managing users from different companies in one place.
- V5.4 introduced a new ERP Service and mechanism for posting to Syspro
- V7.0 extended the concept of shared users as in V5.0 to include shared devices.
This means that three signifcant changes need to be managed. When upgrading from V4.3 or V4.5 you must use EazySetup to upgrade the database and to create Sites and merge Users as described below.
You must then follow the steps regarding upgrading from V5.1 here to manage upgrades to your ERP settings
Then finally refer to the section on upgrading from V6.1 here to manage upgrades to devices
Other Upgrade Items from V4.3 and V4.5:
In addition to the major items mentioned above there are a few minor issues to consider as well.
In these versions, the TL Selector and General Grid modifiable columns were fixed. No columns will be modifiable unless you explicitly select which columns to modify when upgrading. This requires you to edit grid functions as part of the upgrade.
Please check your VBP code. In newer versions of TransLution the connection string is passed as a VBP parameter and previous versions of code may not have expected this parameter.
Merging Users:
When upgrading from versions of TransLution before Version 5 you need to make sure that the TransLution Database users have the same passwords as the TransLution Utility Control Database. This is done using the Merge Users function. The updates the user passwords in the company database users with the information sitting in the TransLution Utility Control Database, so that there are no inconsistencies. When adding a new company you are automatically prompted to do this but if for some reason, you are not prompted, you must merge users manually in EazySetup. Log into TransLution EazySetup and select ‘Merge Co Users’.
This is only required once when doing the initial upgrade. It is also not required when upgrading any sites running any version greater than V5.0
Merge Users Form
Select the company you are wokring with and Click Compare users to see the form below. If all lines are green that means all users have the same password in the common database and company database and nothing further is required.
Unmatched Passwords
If all lines are not green, then you need to select the option 'Merge Users' to update all mismatched passwords. This is only required once when doing the initial upgrade. Once done you will see the form as below. All passwords have been updated.
