Upgrading from TransLution Version 7.3 to Version 7.5 is largely a standard upgrade. Remember, there is no longer a need to upgrade Android devices manually.

The most important thing to remember is managing log files.

Dealing with Log Files

TransLution V7.5 has been extended to do detailed logging as Android scans are processed. The goal of the logging is to enable proper analysis of system performance. We will be extending our standard system to release reports and dashboards that use this data allowing customers and implementers to understadn where any bottlenecks in performance may lie and give them ideas on how to improve issues. The log files that are created are text files on the server, these need to be processed and read into a TransLution database table. This is done using the TransLution Log File Service. It is also important that log files are deleted in order to avoid filling the hard disk on the server. This is done using the File Deleter Service.

Configurable SQL Password

The TransLution SQL username and password are now configurable. We would suggest that when upgrading, these are not changed. For existing implementations, the TransLution strong password may have been used in external processes and applications so changing this password should be done as a separate project and not done with an upgrade.
